Organization offers free diapers for mothers in need
Dr. Carolann Littzi’s maternal instinct went into overdrive last year. With her toddler nearby, Littzi read a magazine article about poor mothers so desperate that they reuse disposable diapers.
“As I am reading this article, I am just appalled,” she said. “This was something that hit me very hard. I was not aware of the need for diapers in low-income families.” Diapers can’t be bought with food stamps or aid from the Women, Infants and Children nutrition program.
That was one year and 30,000 diapers ago. Littzi started Angelic Diaper Ministries, a charity that consists of herself and a handful of “diaper mom” volunteers.
